Jillian Michaels on NBC's Today Show

In this interview from NBC's Today Show from October 2009, Jillian Michaels introduces her new TV show called Losing it with Jillian Michaels. The TV show will have Jillian moving in with a number of families across the U.S. for seven days to show them how to live a healthier lifestyle and steps to lose weight safely.

A key section of the video are questions that Jilliam Michaels answers from the Today Show audience. In one Q/A, a viewer states he only has about 30 minutes to workout each week and is looking for a solution. Jillian discusses "Circuit training" -- a process that helps burn fat at a maximum rate. Circuit training is a process where you do many different exercises without rest in between. It is a combo of resistance training and cardio, which burns optimal calories. The goal is to get your intensity to 85% of your maximum heart rate.

Another Q/A from the audience is from a couple who is trying to get started on a weight loss program. Jillian suggests they look for ways to incorporate methods to get fit as part of their lifestyle. She suggests avoiding the typical gym routine and instead look for activities they can do togehter such as hiking, yoga or even or taking a healthy cooking class together.

Another viewer asks about economical methods to exercise as they had to cancel their gym membership. Jillian Michaels states that they still have their #1 fitness tool -- their body. She suggests doing situps, pushups, run up and down stairs or jump rope. All of these activities are great methods to lose weight and can be done anywhere for free. Jillian does suggest to the viewer that it is important to do the exercises correctly and explains there are many great videos on the web that explain proper ways of perfoming an exercise.
