Michaels Discusses Good Carbs and Bad Carbs
Carbohydrates are not created equal and in this
video Jillian Michaels discusses the difference of good
carbs and bad carbs. Jillian starts by stating that
our bodys need carbs to function. But you must choose
the right carbs to eat and she focuses on the difference
between low glycemic index and high glycemic index carbs.
The glycemic index is a measure of how fast the carb
is turning into sugar in your blood. The quicker the
carb turns into sugar in your bloodstream, the higher
the glycemic index. The slower it does, the lower glycemic
index. Low glycemic index carbs are the best when you
take into account quality of the carbs in your food
and also the quantity.
Some
examples of Low glycemic index carbs:
- Whole grain bread (low gi) vs. white bread (high
gi)
- Wild rice (low gi) vs. white rice (high gi)
- Fruits and vegtables (low gi) vs. juice or soda
(high gi)
She
caps the video off with a great discussion on late
night eating. Jillian says that your body releases
a key weight loss hormone at night This video was
shot at the eDiets Live even in June 2008.
